Pandan leaves is also called Pandanus or screwpine leaves. Pandan leaves is hauntingly aromatic and delicate. Southeast Asian use pandan leaves widely as a flavoring for dessert and chicken dishes. You can put pandan leaf in the uncooked rice pot to perfume it. The leaves also have a repellent effect on cockroaches.
Let's be creative today, I'll show all of you how to make roses from pandan leaves. You can use it as a potpourri for your home, shoe rack, car, fridge or bathroom.
For the right handed, follow this step.
1/ Leave about 3 cm from the end of the pandan leaf ( this will be the flower stem ) and fold about 90 deg
NOTE: PLUCK FRESH PANDAN LEAVES AND LEAVE IT FOR ABOUT HALF A DAY BEFORE USE, EASIER TO HANDLE.
2/ Fold the stem inward as per diagram.
3/ Fold leaf backward like diagonal part into half.
4/ Make one and half roll and make sure it is not covering the small triangular part on top.
5/ Fold the leaf backward and make another roll before end of small triangle
6/ Repeat until left about 3 inch from end of leaf.
7/ Pull the leaf end through the last layer, and pull slowly or else it will break.
8/ Almost complete... so make sure hubby don't disturb.
9/ Tighten the petal
10/ Tighten the rose by twisting the centre part of the rose.
11/ Ta...da.... completed. Lucky hubby never get into aheemm mood...........LOL
12/ Bundle the pandan roses and tied with rubber band. You can wrap up like a bouquet and put in your car or around the house. Especially good for toilet. SPRAY WITH WATER TO KEEP IT FRESH.
Break time........ let's drink hot cocoa with grated chocolate
Now this is for the left handed friends.
1/ Leave about 3 in from the end of pandan leaf (this will be the flower stem) and fold 90 deg.
